Day 1

Kitulgala

After lunch leave for Kitulgala. Arriving at your hotel and commence a Water Rafting tour. On completion return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Selected Hotel: Royal River Resort Hotel Kitulgala

Day 2

Kandy

After breakfast proceed to Kandy via Nuwara Eliya driving along the beautiful green carpet Tea bushes en route visiting a Tea Plantation and Factory. Nuwara Eliya – It is well know as “Little England” Sri Lanka’s premier hill resort with a fine bracing mountain climate, Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, producing some of the world’s best tea. The mountain slopes and valleys are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls, red or green roofed plantation bungalows, English country style homes and hotels with lovely vegetables, fruit and flower gardens, a fine 18-hole golf course and a race course give Nuwara Eliya a decidedly British character.

After arriving at your selected hotel in Kandy, in the afternoon commence a city tour. On your city tour you will visit the Scenic Upper Lake Drive, Botanical Garden, Batik Factory, Gem Museum, Wood Carving Factory and Temple of Tooth Relic. Late evening view a dynamic cultural show and Kandyan Dance performance featuring various dance types of Sri Lanka.  Kandy – Today it is the centre of Buddhism, Arts, Crafts and Culture. One would always return a second time to this beautiful hill city which is the heart and soul of the country. To Buddhists of Sri Lanka and the world, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the “Dalada Maligawa” – Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.

Day 3

Habarana

After breakfast leave for Habarana en route visiting Dambulla Cave  Temples. Dambulla Cave Temples – Dambulla rock is a vast isolated rock mass 500ft high and a mile around the base. Dating back to the 01st century B.C. this complex of 5 caves was used as refuge by an ancient king who on regaining his throne, commissioned magnificent carved images within the living rock. In the first Cave is a recumbent image of the Buddha 47ft long cut out of the rock. There are images of deities associated with Buddhism all around. The frescoes on the ceiling date back to the 15th – 18th Centuries. The Second Cave is the finest and the largest of all. In all of these 5 caves there are 150 life-size statues of Gods from the Buddhist religion along with numerous images of the Buddha himself. The ceiling is also covered with frescoes which depict great events in the life of the Buddha and landmarks in the history of the Sinhala people.

On your way you will visit a Spice Garden. You can see the luscious Cinnamons, Cardamoms, Clove, Nutmeg, Pepper, Herbal plants etc in these privately developed gardens, and you can also purchase your requirements of spices and herbal oils. On completion Dambulla proceed to Polonnaruwa ruined city. Polonnaruwa – It was the capital from the 11th to 13th centuries with 12 rulers. Of all the brilliant structures at Polonnaruwa the best known is the glorious Gal Vihara complex. These are the 12th century statues cut from a single granite wall and rank among the true masterpieces of Sri Lankan art. Other famous ruins are King Parakramabaahu Statue, King Parakramabaahu Palace, Shiva Temple, Thuparama Image House, Atadage, Watadage, Hetadage, Galpotha(stone book), Sathmahal Prasada, Rankoth Vehera, Lanka Thilaka, Kiri Vehera, Gal Vihira, Thivanka Image House and Lotus Pond. The 12th century Lotus Bath is some of finest creations of old Sri Lanka. You can also have an Elephant Back Safari (optional) on your en route to Polonnaruwa city tour. After visiting Polonnaruwa leave to your hotel in Habarana for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Trincomalee

After breakfast visit the world famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress and frescoes. Sigiriya – Sigiriya is a Rock fortress where King Kasyapa built a fortified palace on top and around 183 meters rocky outcrop in the 5th century AD. Sigiriya fortress is most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge crouching lion image that is carved at the entrance to the fortress. Sigiriya also well known for world famous passionate fresco paintings of life sized beautiful maidens done by the natural colours. The other most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, swimming pool, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares. 

On completion Sigiriya proceed to Trincomalee to visit Kinniya Hot Water Wells, Dutch Fort, Koneswaram Hindu Temple, Nature Harbour and Pigeon Island.

Trincomalee – “Trinco” as it is commonly called, has been a sea port since the days of the ancient Kings and one of the British Empire’s most important ports in Asia during the Second World War. A shear rock outcrop called Swami Rock, several meters high above the sea is the tip of the Fort Frederick thus named by the British, Having being occupied by the Dutch and the Portuguese. The massive Hindu temple dedicated Koneswaram has said to have been stood here until it had been destroyed by the Portuguese. A modern temple is now built around the same location. Within the Swami Rock is Lover’s Leap where a Dutch Officer’s daughter had leapt after a broken affair.

After visiting Trinco return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

Colombo

After breakfast proceed to Colombo.
